Architecture
Phuket native architecture which current residual are Housing, Government facilities, and Temples. For housing which a unique Phuket people, we can divide to 3 types, as below:
A Native Architecture
Features:
- Materials : Bamboo, Mangrove trees, Rattan, and Palm canal
Gualification: Readily available from local
- Setting antenna will not bury greenhouse but put a stone as base
Gualification : Prevent relapse, because the ground is sandy soil conditions.
- Wall made of polished bamboo, no window.
Gualification: Air flows easily
- No terrace house
Gualification: Applied for rainy season, floor will not decay
Location: Don Village, Kean Village, NaiThorn Village, and Chalong Village.
Chinese style
Features:
- Materials: clay
Gualification: Strength and durability
- Housing is short, not high.
Gualification: applied for frequent rain and strong winds
Location: Kathu District
Chino-Portuguese style
Features:
- The building resembles a mixed European and Asia (China).
Gualification: Building not muggy heat with Natural light
- Walkway under the building connect between each building called “Arcade”
Location: In Phuket Town such as Thalang Rd., Rassada Rd., Yaowarat Rd., etc.
